We survived only because of our defence training, says Navy veteran released from Qatar

Navy Qatar Narendra Modi Indian Navy Prison the Court of Appeal

Ragesh Gopakumar, one of the eight ex-Indian Navy personnel released by the Qatar government, said on February 14 that they survived the prison days only due to their defence training.

Expressing joy and gratitude over returning home and being reunited with his family after spending months in captivity in the tiny gulf nation, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for their release.

“We are happy to be alive... happy to be home,” relieved Mr. Gopakumar said.
