Liverpool will be looking to end the Premier League season on a high when they face relegated Southampton on Sunday.
The Reds have missed out on a top-four finish and will play in the Europa League next season. It will be the first time since Jurgen Klopp took over in the 2015/16 season that the club will take part in the second-tier European competition.
However, Liverpool will make the trip to Southampton in in good spirits on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run that has saw them run Manchester United and Newcastle United close for the final Champions League spots.
So can the Reds do the business of the south coast? We simulated the game to find out.
Southampton vs Liverpool simulated to get a score prediction
To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that the hosts could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Bazunu; Livramento, Bednarek, Lyanco, Walker-Peters; Ward-Prowse, Lavia; Walcott, Alcaraz, Elyounoussi; Onuachu.
We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Fabinho, Milner, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota.
Southampton have performed better against the top teams than the ones around them this season, but this wasn't the case against Liverpool, who dominated the first half. Curtis Jones came close in the opening 10 minutes before setting up Mohamed Salah for the opener in the 36th minute.
Jones carried the ball across the Southampton box and combined with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who fired a cross into the path of Salah, who made it 1-0.
Roberto Firmino and Darwin Nunez were both introduced at half-time as Klopp rotated his squad, and the latter should've made it 2-0 when he headed Alexander-Arnold's cross wide from a fantastic position. But the pressure continued from the Reds, and Firmino managed to make it 2-0 in the 72nd minute on what was his final appearance for the club.
A long ball down the right sent Salah free toward goal, and after cutting inside, the Egyptian fed Firmino who, through on goalm powered a strike into the top corner.
Southampton pulled a goal back in the 91st minute when Lyanco headed home at the back post from James Ward-Prowse's free-kick, but it proved to be no more than a consolation goal.
