We simulated Southampton vs Chelsea to get a score prediction

Chelsea will travel to Southampton on Tuesday night as the Blues look to make it two wins on the bounce in the Premier League.

After a Raheem Sterling double defeated Leicester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea are back in action on Tuesday night against Southampton. The win over Leicester was a big momentum boost for Thomas Tuchel's side following their 3-0 defeat to Leeds United.

Last season, Chelsea produced one of their best performances of the season at St. Marys' Stadium, beating Southampton 6-0. The Blues have lost just once against Southampton in the last 14 meetings between the two sides in all competitions.

With such a tight turnaround in fixtures, Tuchel could rotate his squad on Tuesday, with Ben Chilwell, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja all in contention to start. Conor Gallagher is suspended after picking up a red card against Leicester, whilst N'Golo Kante and Marcos Alonso remain sidelined.

So, what could the final score be when Chelsea face Southampton? We simulated the game to try and predict the outcome.

Southampton vs Chelsea score prediction

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 22 and updated the squads with the latest transfers. Due to FIFA 22 not having the latest kits, both sides lined up in the kits for the 2021/22 season.

We predict that the Saints could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Bazunu; Walker-Peters, Bella-Kotchap, Perraud; Ward-Prowse, Lavia; Aribo, Elyounoussi, Armstrong; Adams.

We predict that Tuchel's side could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly; James, Kovacic, Jorginho, Chilwell; Sterling, Pulisic; Broja.

The Blues started on the front foot against Southampton, with Sterling, Broja and Pulisic all looking dangerous in the attacking third. After half an hour of dominating the game, Chelsea took the lead through Pulisic.

The American capitalised on a rare start with a goal, which was well taken. Reece James found Pulisic on the left after some good play in the centre of the pitch, and the winger drilled a fantastic effort into the bottom corner from just outside the box.

The game became frustrating for Chelsea, with Gavin Bazunu producing a fantastic display for the home side, denying the Blues from putting the game to bed. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was brought on for the final 15 minutes, and the midfielder made it 2-0 with eight minutes remaining.

As Ben Chilwell surged down the left, Loftus-Cheek entered the box without being tracked and was picked out by the defender. Loftus-Cheek took the first time and curled a brilliant effort past Bazunu and into the top corner to secure the win for Chelsea.

FIFA 22 predicted final score: Southampton 0-2 Chelsea

Here are the full-time match stats.

FT stats from Southampton 0-2 Chelsea on FIFA 22 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 22 predicts that Chelsea could prove too strong for Southampton, with goals in both halves handing Tuchel's side a 2-0 win. Bazunu impressed in goal for the home side with 11 saves, showing the Blues may need to be clinical if they want to claim three points in real life.
