We simulated Celtic vs Hibernian to get a score prediction in narrow contest at Celtic Park

Celtic will be looking to try and extend their nine-point lead over Rangers on Saturday when the Hoops face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

A 3-0 win over Hearts in the Scottish Cup made it 13 wins on the bounce for Celtic in their last outing, with the victory setting up another Old Firm derby against rivals Rangers in the semi-finals of the competition. Attention now turns back to the Premiership for Ange Postecoglou's side, where Celtic face Hibernian.

Lee Johnson's side has met Celtic twice already this season, with the Hoops winning 10-1 on aggregate. Aaron Mooy has been ruled out of Saturday's clash, but Postecoglou had positive news as well, with Daizen Maeda back and Carl Starfelt fine after being subbed off at half time against Hearts.

So, can Celtic overcome Hibs on Saturday? We simulated the game to try and find out.

Celtic vs Hibernian simulated

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Celtic squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Celtic could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Kobayashi, Taylor; McGregor, Hatate, O'Riley; Jota, Kyogo, Maeda.

We predict that the visitors could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Marshall; Cadden, Fish, Hanlon, Stevenson; Egan-Riley, Jeggo; Henderson, Campbell, Youan; Hoppe.

Celtic found themselves getting frustrated in the first half at Celtic Park, with plenty of chances falling their way but the Hoops were failing to take advantage. Celtic could've easily been multiple goals ahead after Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota and Reo Hatate all missed some big chances, but it was Kyogo who put the Hoops ahead deservedly in the 63rd minute.

As Celtic worked the ball around the box, Kyogo peeled off the shoulder of his marker to make himself an option in a dangerous area. After receiving the ball, the striker pushed past the last man before rifling an effort towards goal and finding the top corner.

The chances kept coming for Postecoglou's side, with Celtic managing 31 shots in the 90 minutes. Kyogo and Cameron Carter-Vickers both hit the woodwork from set pieces as Hibs held on for dear life, but it was Daizen Maeda who came closest to a second.

A short corner saw Jota carry the ball towards the box, and after duping past his defender, he fizzed the ball into the feet of Maeda. On the turn, the forward fired a powerful shot towards goal, but some good reflexes from the 'keeper denied Celtic a second.
