We simulated Celtic vs Aberdeen to get a score prediction as Oh Hyeon-gyu makes big impression

Celtic can make it nine wins on the bounce on Saturday when they face Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

An emphatic 5-1 win over St Mirren saw Celtic book their spot in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup in their last outing, with Ange Postecoglou 's side in terrific form of late. Title rivals Rangers have also won their last eight games in a row in all competitions, but the gap at the top between the Old Firm rivals remains at nine points, with the Hoops not looking like dropping points any time soon.

Celtic have already met Aberdeen once in the Scottish Premiership this season, with a late Callum McGregor goal securing a 1-0 win. History is on the Hoops' side heading into Saturday's clash, with Aberdeen's last win over Celtic coming 19 games ago in 2018.

So, can Celtic maintain their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday? We simulated the game to try and find out.

Celtic vs Aberdeen simulated

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Celtic squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Celtic could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Mooy, Hatate; Maeda, Kyogo, Jota.

Celtic dominated the first half against Aberdeen as they saw the majority of the ball, but they weren't at their best in front of goal, failing to score or really trouble the 'keeper in the opening 45. Kyogo Furuhashi was withdrawn on the hour as Oh Hyeon-gyu took his place, and the striker had an instant impact as he sent the Hoops ahead.

Jota did well on the left to beat his man and cut inside before threading a reverse pass into the path of Oh. The striker shifted the ball onto his right foot as he charged towards goal, and his driven shot beat the 'keeper at the near post to put Celtic 1-0 up.

Oh came close again just minutes after his opener when he tapped a cross into the net from a few yards out, but the South Korean was offside, and the goal was ruled out. Oh was having a tremendous impact off the bench as the Hoops looked dangerous every time they went forward, and the 21-year-old made it 2-0 76 minutes in.

Graeme Shinnie was caught in possession by Aaron Mooy on the halfway line, and the midfielder launched a pass forward for Oh to chase. Through on goal, the striker got as close to goal as he could before curling a well-placed shot into the bottom corner to double the lead.

Six minutes later, Celtic confirmed the three points, with substitute David Turnbull catching out Jay Gorter from range, with his shot creeping in at the near post to make it 3-0.
