We simulated Aberdeen vs Rangers to get a score prediction for Pittodrie midweek showdown

Rangers can close the gap to league leaders Celtic on Tuesday evening, as they take on Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

With Ange Postecoglou's side hosting Livingston on Wednesday evening, the Light Blues have the chance to cut the lead at the top of the table to six points with a win tonight and keep themselves in the fight for the title. Michael Beale's side have a fantastic recent record against the Dons, with Rangers undefeated in their last 12 games against them, and will hope to extend that record this midweek.

So, could Rangers pick up a win against Aberdeen on Tuesday night? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Aberdeen vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

We expect that Rangers could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor, Tavernier, King, Goldson, Devine; Lundstram, Jack, Tillman; Sakala, Kent; Morelos.

We predict that Aberdeen could set up in a 5-2-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Roos; Kennedy, McCrorie, Stewart, Scales, Coulson; Barron, Ramadani; Clarkson; Duk, Miovski

Rangers started this game well and created a few good chances, but the Gers were so wasteful in the final third. Morelos and Kent both had half-chances to open the scoring, but it was Tillman who had the best chance in the first-half.

After receiving a cutback from Morelos, the midfielder only had to hit the target, but he miscued his shot horribly wide when it looked easier to score.

The Gers continued to push for a winner in the second half, but could only muster a few long-range efforts, as Beale's side began to run out of ideas. And then came the sucker punch.

From the home side's only real foray forward, they took the lead, with Cape Verde forward Luis 'Duk' Lopes finishing off a breakaway goal. The forward got in behind the Rangers defence and swept a great finish in the far corner to make it 1-0 to the home side.

The away side continued to push forward, in a desperate search for an equaliser, but they couldn't find a way through the Aberdeen defence in this simulation.

FIFA 23 predicted final score: Aberdeen 1-0 Rangers

Here are the full-time match stats.

FIFA 23 predicts that Rangers should be much the better team on Tuesday evening, and should be able to create the best chances during the game. But as this simulation shows, should they be wasteful in front of goal, they could leave themselves open to a shock defeat, so they'll have to be at their best to win on Tuesday evening.
