We Now Can All Go to the Cottage. Maybe Just Not With Shane and Ilya

Heated Rivalry fans can now go to the cottage just like Shane and Ilya. Over on Airbnb, you can now find the familiar looking Barlochan Cottage for vacation rental. This is the exact same one featured on Heated Rivalry and the listing is doing nothing to hide from the association. (Gotta strike while the iron’s hot, after all!) There are 400 feet of private sunsets for you and whoever you choose to flee to the cottage with.. Check out all the amenities down below.

Airbnb’s listing describes the space, “The iconic Barlochan Cottage was featured on a TV-hit show this season, and is a luxurious modern cottage featuring almost 400ft of private waterfront to enjoy those spectacular Muskoka sunsets.”

“Located on Walkers Point on the west shore of Lake Muskoka, the property is only 20 minutes from the towns of Gravenhurst and Bala, and offers boating-access to the ‘Big 3’ Muskoka Lakes,” the entry continues. “Muskoka Airport is within 30 minutes, and Toronto Airport within a 90 minute drive.”

So, for super fans who are looking for a vacation, look no further. I don’t even want to think about how quickly the reservations for the next couple of months filled up once this became public knowledge. Maybe the most interesting thing about this whole situation is the fact it’s not a partnered Airbnb activation. When folks saw this roll across their timelines on social media, it would have been all too easy to assume that this had been like the other air B and B stunts we’ve seen in recent years.

Heated Rivalry and “The Cottage” phenomenon

Trust and believe that Heated Rivalry connected with people the way it did because of that vulnerability on screen. Nothing epitomizes that change more than Episode 6 when “The Cottage” becomes very real for both of these men. Hudson WIlliams talked about getting to let Shane be more open in the small house. In a show filled with moments that resonate, the episode sticks out even more.

“We got to go to Muskoka; it’s a 3-hour thing,” Williams revealed to EW. “It did feel like the end of a journey, which was really nice. But all the episodes prior, you could shove coal up Shane’s a**, and you’d get a diamond. He’s just so coiled and tight.”

Series creator Brandon Tierney knew that there was a quiet ending for his two boys at the end of this show. Shane and Ilia had been through so much. Fans had already gotten one cathartic release earlier in the series. So, it just made sense to go a little smaller for the epilogue to season one. In the same interview, he discussed that choice.

“What I remember so clearly feeling at the end of this book was, ‘I’m so happy they get to be happy,’ that I just wanted to sit with them and let them be happy,” Tierney mused “That’s then part of the structure of giving 5 that big rom-com movie star ending to Scott [François Arnaud], so that I can have a quiet ending with Shane and Ilya.”
