Netflix limited series "Adolescence" looks to be all but confirmed for a return, based on what star Stephen Graham just said at the 2026 Golden Globes over the weekend. After winning a trophy for his performance in "Adolescence," Graham suggested that we will be getting a follow-up series in the future — but don't expect to be streaming it anytime soon.
Asked about the possibility of a second season at the event, the star said: "I cannot answer that question because it's somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's [Thorne, co-creator] mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned." (per Deadline).
This all but confirms that the show's due for a comeback, especially after news broke back in April 2025 that early talks about "Adolescence" season 2 had taken place. At that time, we learned that discussions were ongoing between director Philip Barantini and Plan B Entertainment, wherein the production studio's co-president, Dede Gardner, said they wanted to "widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive."
With Graham's new comments, and "Adolescence's" continued successes — see our rundown of all the Golden Globes 2026 winners for a full refresh of the show's latest wins, for example — the future sure does look bright for this hard-hitting series. If the pair do manage to "pull it out" of their respective minds, I have a sneaking suspicion that "Adolescence" season 2 could end up being one of the biggest Netflix originals yet.
Why 'Adolescence' season 2 could be Netflix's biggest hit yet
Even if you're only an occasional Netflix viewer, you'll likely have heard of "Adolescence," as the four-part series was regarded by many as one of the best shows of 2025, with critics heaping praise on it across the board; it's still 97% on Rotten Tomatoes
Similarly, the show had a big impact off-platform; it was made available to all secondary schools across the UK to spark discussions about topics in the series, and it's also been a major contender on the awards circuit too. And, of course, there's the simple fact that it outstripped many of Netflix's major TV successes and ended up becoming one of the most-watched Netflix shows of all time.
Granted, while I previously said I wasn't entirely sold on a second season (I thought it said what it needed to in those four episodes), there's no denying that "Adolescence" was one of the biggest shows of 2025, and the series' theoretical return would doubtless be massive.

Why? Well, if a brand-new project can have this kind of impact, I can only imagine what its return might look like, given the show's reputation. The fact is, if "Adolescence" season 2 can match the quality of its predecessor and the team can find another impactful story to tell, it seems only logical that this show could be an even bigger hit.
Of course, until "Adolescence" season 2 arrives, we'll never know whether my prediction will come true. We know next to nothing about what shape that potential series could take, or what it may be about, so all we can do is "stay tuned" for more info, as Stephen Graham said.
