Thomas Tuchel said his focus is on the matters he can influence rather than those outside his control when questioned about his interest in Anthony Gordon.
The Chelsea boss acknowledged time was running out for his club to seal a move for the Everton star before the end of the summer transfer window. Everton have so far rebuffed Chelsea enquiries over the 21-year-old, including an official bid of around £45m.
Frank Lampard said on Friday that Gordon remains a Blues player and will be in the squad to face Brentford on Saturday. He said suggestions Everton had received an offer to the value of £60m were incorrect and stressed the importance of Gordon to his plans for the coming season.

Chelsea's interest in Gordon emerged just under a fortnight ago. Everton have rejected the London outfit's attempts to prise the England Under-21 international from Goodison Park so far, insisting they hold no interest in entertaining bids for the academy graduate.
Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Brentford: "No it [a bid] hasn't come in. He's our player, he remains so, he's in the squad for tomorrow. He's a huge player for us. They haven't bid £60m, let's not talk about a number that's not there. No [can't put a figure on his value]. I've been fortunate enough to work with fantastic young players, see them develop into England internationals and Champions League winners worth triple figures in terms of some of their personal values. Anthony's in that bracket, he's a pleasure to work with and he's ours. He's an Everton boy, he plays for us, the crowd relate to him. It's understandable that people would be interested because of the level of player he is, but the facts remain the same."
Chelsea, already behind transfers exceeding the value of £150m this summer, are involved in a public pursuit of both Leicester City's Wesley Fofana and Gordon.
Asked whether he anticipated progress on either ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline, Tuchel said on Friday afternoon: "We have some ideas but maybe nobody comes in, it is not a long window anymore. It closes soon and the focus is on the things we can influence and everybody else is not our decision because no matter what we want there are always several parties involved who have to agree."
