
“The guy said he was going to be here, but he’s nowhere to be seen. What are we going to do?” says 46-year-old Fernando Donadel, holding his phone. He and his partner Saurabh Kalra are in Normandy, surrounded by towers of wooden pallets which they are attempting to buy and upcycle into a bar — only, they cannot locate the seller.
“He just replied!” says Saurabh, 43. “We’re going to get it now. We’re going to pay him through the letterbox. Should we start loading?”
