We don’t deserve Myles Garrett

The Cleveland Browns have one of the best to ever do it in defensive end Myles Garrett.

Fresh off of an NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, Garrett has been back to working offensive tackles, including Pro Bowler Andrew Thomas on Sunday in the loss to the Giants. While Garrett did not come away with a sack, he was a constant presence in the backfield and in the face of Daniel Jones, whose timer was sped up exponentially by the perennial All-Pro.

On the day, Garrett tallied a massive nine total pressures, three hits on Jones, and six hurries. This led the entire NFL, excluding the teams playing on Monday Night Football.

The kicker? Garrett is playing through an injury that by all means is not minor. Set for an MRI on Monday, the Browns and Garrett are seeking out just how significant it is. Garrett disclosed last week that his injury is affecting both of his feet, potentially dating back to a childhood surgery.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski, however, has stated that Garrett is day-to-day and will likely continue to play through the injury as he has through three weeks. Garrett’s thoughts on where he stands with his injury and status on game day?:

“Wrap me up, tape me up. Let’s go.”

There is a reason Garrett is well-respected amongst his teammates as a team captain, as well as his peers around the NFL. There is a reason that every opposing offense has to alter their game plan to get the ball out lightning fast when they play the Browns. There is a reason that Garrett won NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Garrett is one-of-one and there will never be another like him. And the Browns are lucky to have him.
