Bruno Guimaraes has offered an honest verdict after Newcastle United's narrow defeat against Liverpool admitting his side "did not deserve" to keep up their winning run at St James' Park.
The £33.5million man says that Liverpool were "another level" compared to recent opponents but insists that confidence still remains high in the camp and that United will go into the trip to Manchester City looking to improve. After the 1-0 loss, Bruno told Chronicle Live: "It was a difficult game, we know Liverpool are on another level. "But we tried our best.
"In my opinion we expected a lot more. "We did not play well with the ball, it was difficult.

"What I can say to you was that Liverpool were another level."
Newcastle now face a busy summer of transfer activity with hopes high that United's board can add more quality stars like Bruno. But the midfielder feels that the hard work must start on the field too.
Bruno added: "We have to work to get to that level. "We have to work more and try to play with more of the ball.
"We have to try to work with the space and get in behind, we didn't do it. We did not deserve the win today."
Newcastle head to the Etihad Stadium for the clash with Man City next weekend and Bruno still had his head held high after recent displays. Bruno reflected: "We still have confidence. "Today was difficult but we tried to have the opportunities.
"But we didn't deserve to win today. "That is what is clear to me.
"In the first half we expected more. "In the second half we tried more but it was difficult."
