We asked, you answered: Not having built-in Qi2 magnets on the Galaxy S26 would be a dealbreaker for many, but not everyone cares

The Galaxy S24 Ultra with a case and MagSafe ring.

Samsung's Galaxy S26 series is fast approaching, with the Unpacked date firmly secured for the end of February, just a few weeks from now. However, as leaks and rumors continue to increase in frequency, we are learning more about what the Galaxy S26 may or may not have, including Qi2.

While the Galaxy S26 is expected to support Qi2 wireless charging, rumors indicate the phones won't include built-in magnets. This means that, unlike the Pixel 10 series, which can use MagSafe chargers with ease, Galaxy S26 devices will require cases to take advantage of Qi2's magnetic charging.

We recently asked if this would be a dealbreaker. Out of more than 1,100 responses, over 50% of responses say that the lack of magnetic charging is a dealbreaker, while 35% say it doesn't matter, and 13% say that it depends.

What you had to say

One reader, Jack Booth, sees the rumored lack of built-in magnetic charging as an obvious example of Samsung's lack of innovation:

"I love Samsung and have an s24U but this is a bit cheeky," Booth comments on Facebook. "There's so little innovation year on year with them they could have at least put this in."

Another reader, Alfredo Rodriguez, agrees, noting how it requires users to spend more money on cases:

"Yes. I'm tired of having to buy more expensive cases because they have the magnets built in. The phone having magnets already built in means I could buy a lot more reasonably priced cases. I like the new camera island and was liking that the magnets were in but this is definitely not a worthy upgrade from my S25 Ultra."

For Luisillo el Tiznadillo on X, the lack of built-in magnets wouldn't be a dealbreaker, but signals a larger trend with Samsung devices.

E. Oliver on X also notes that they always use a case with their phone, so requiring one for magnetic charging wouldn't change anything.

Of course, the Galaxy S26 series will be fully unveiled on February 25 at Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. It is here where we'll learn more about the devices and Samsung's plans for Qi2.
