Tonight is the night for the hotly anticipated match between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles as they battle it out to see who will be crowned the best American Football team in the country. The 57th instalment of the NFL's season closer, it will be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 12.
The quarterbacks for both teams will also be making history at the game. The Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes, 27, and the Eagles' Jalen Hurt's inclusion will mean it is the first time in Super Bowl history that the starting quarterbacks form both teams will be black.

Both teams have identical records for this year's season and while the betting odds slightly favour the Eagles there isn't much to separate them. So we decided to put the new AI tool, ChatGPT, to see if it can give us a glimpse on just how the match will go.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a conversational AI-powered chatbot designed to answer questions and respond to queries in text form in a way that sounds natural and human. Built by US firm OpenAI, it uses information from the internet to carry out requests and has been trained on back-and-forth conversations so it is capable of understanding follow-up questions, admitting its own mistakes and limitations and rejecting inappropriate requests.
Although chatbot technology like this is not new, ChatGPT is rare in that it was made widely available for the public to use and experiment with. As a result, it was quickly being used to fulfil unusual and very specific requests – including writing a song in the style of a specific pop star about a subject currently in the news – with often impressively accurate results that were shared online.
ChatGPT's prediction
The original plan was to ask ChatGPT to predict who will win the Super Bowl. However, that was quickly shut down as the intelligent search engine rightfully informed us that it is merely an 'AI language model', and it does not 'have the ability to predict future events'.
So we had to be a little creative in getting an answer out of the ChatGPT. The next best thing was to use it's story telling tool which it has been praised for. We asked the AI to write a game story about the Super Bowl using it's knowledge of the latest squads, both team's records and latest odds, this is what we found.
The outcome
The story was one of thrilling encounter between two evenly matched teams that went right down to the wire. ChatGPT wrote that the Chiefs were the first to put numbers on the board scoring a touch down in the first drive of the game.
In a 'back-and-forth-battle' both teams exchanged 'blows' and touchdowns with the Eagles' defence being highlighted for their relentless pursuit of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes plays a staring role in the game, described as being 'elusive' to oncoming tacklers and making 'clutch throws when it mattered the most'. Despite Mahomes' efforts, the match goes to the wire and teams found themselves tied at 28-28 in the fourth quarter of the game.
However, it's Mahomes who comes up trumps again with a game winning drive that leads to a pass to Chief's star tight end Travis Kelce who scores the winning touchdown with just minutes left on the clock.
Chat PT crowns the Chiefs as the winners of the Vince Lombardi Trophy with Mahomes ending the night as Super Bowl MVP with 376 passing yards and four touchdowns.
Inaccuracies
While the story won't be winning any Pulitzer prizes any time soon, it was an engaging one and impressive considering it was written by an AI. However, there were some inaccuracies which cropped time and time again.
Despite being asked to use the latest squads ChatGPT mentioned at least three players who no longer play for Super Bowl contenders. Carson Wentz was mentioned as the current Eagles quarterback which is incorrect.
He is currently QB of the Washington Commanders but did play for Philadelphia in the years 2016 to 2020. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who played for the Chiefs from 2016 to 2021 was also mentioned as a Chiefs player and scorer of Super Bowl 57 but he currently plays for Miami Dolphins.
Another ex player was mentioned too, Alshon Jefferey was a scorer for the Eagles in the AI's story but he also no longer plays for the team and is currently a free agent.

"Super Bowl 57 was shaping up to be a classic showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams had steamrolled their way through the regular season with a record of 16-3, earning their place in the big dance and setting the stage for one of the most anticipated matchups in recent memory.
"The Eagles, led by their fearless quarterback Carson Wentz, were determined to avenge their loss in Super Bowl 52 and bring a championship to Philadelphia. They were a team built on resilience and a never-say-die attitude, with a defense that was as fierce as it was relentless.
"On the other side of the field stood the Chiefs, led by the dynamic and electrifying quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs were a team that lived and died by the arm of their star quarterback, with a high-powered offense that could strike from anywhere on the field.
"The game began with a tense and physical battle, as both teams sought to establish control in the trenches. But it was the Chiefs who struck first, with Mahomes connecting with Tyreek Hill for a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first drive of the game. The Eagles responded quickly, however, with a touchdown of their own, as Wentz found Alshon Jeffery in the end zone to even the score.
"From that point on, the game became a back-and-forth battle, with both teams exchanging blows and trading touchdowns. The Eagles defense was relentless in their pursuit of Mahomes, but the Chiefs quarterback proved too elusive, evading tacklers and making clutch throws when it mattered most.
"In the fourth quarter, with the game tied at 28-28, it was Mahomes who once again rose to the occasion, leading his team on a game-winning drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce with just over a minute left on the clock.
"The Eagles had one final chance to tie the game, but Wentz's pass was intercepted in the end zone, sealing the victory for the Chiefs. Mahomes was named the Super Bowl MVP, as he finished the game with 376 passing yards and 4 touchdowns, cementing his status as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
"In the end, it was the Chiefs who hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy, bringing a championship to Kansas City for the first time in 50 years. But the Eagles can hold their heads high, knowing that they gave it their all and left everything on the field in one of the greatest Super Bowls of all time."
