We Asked An IRL Ghost Hunter If The Spirit World Loves Halloween As Much As We Do

If you ask me, Halloween is one of the best days of the year. Not only because of the silly little costumes, creepy decorations and an excess of lollies, but because it’s the one time of year when we can all collectively lean into our woo-woo, spooky sides. However, it turns out that humans aren’t the only ones getting wrapped up in the kooky-spooky vibes — the spirit world is too.

According to ghost hunter and co-host of The Australian Ghost Whisperer Podcast, James Jennings, Halloween is equally exciting for the ghosts and that can be good and bad.

“It absolutely translates into the spirit world,” James tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.

“Around Halloween, a lot of energy is generated by people who are celebrating ghosts, ghouls and the dark side, with people decorating their houses and dressing up in scary costumes. That energy is almost like an invitation for dark entities and spirits to come through, the veils between worlds definitely thin around Halloween.

“So if you’re trying to invoke ghosts at Halloween, all we have to say is: be careful what you wish for!”

Tag yourself!!! I’m Slimer!!!!

Whether you’re a sceptic or not, sometimes, it can be hard not to get wrapped up in the chilling energy around Halloween. However, James says it’s best not to get too carried away with the eerie vibes. Otherwise, you might find yourself uh… haunted… to say the least.

“A definite no-no is using an Ouija board — that is a definite invitation for dark spirits to enter this realm, and we’ve heard plenty of stories about things going wrong and people getting freaked out when using them,” James warns.

“Be wary of anything that seems like an invitation because chances are someone — or something — is gonna take the opportunity to come through.”

On The Australian Ghost Whisperer podcast, James and his co-host — leading Australian psychic, healer and exorcist Caterina Ligato — confront all elements of the paranormal world. Sometimes, this involves some ghost-busting. However, it’s pretty different to what it seems like in the movies.

“As much as we’d love matching jumpsuits and proton packs, that’s not really how it works,” James admits.

“Caterina has been a psychic medium her whole life — she remembers seeing spirits from the age of three — so her incredible ability is the thing that gives us an edge when we’re hunting ghosts.

“We use a few standard ghost-hunting tools like a Spirit Box and EMF meter but they’re just an added extra for us since Caterina can see, hear and communicate with the ghosts directly!”

As much as we find the spirit world fascinating, James says that it would be beneficial to have a lot more respect for ghostly beings.

“First of all, we should have a bit more empathy for ghosts — a lot of these people are sad, lost souls who have suffered trauma and can’t find their way to the light,” James says.

“Most are stuck here and unhappy, although some people refuse to believe they’re dead and carry on like they’re still alive!

“Secondly, people should take this stuff seriously — the spirit world is very real, and both light and dark beings exist. We get that people want to stick their heads in the sand about it, but it pays to get educated about it.”
