Marks and Spencer shoppers can bag free gin, chocolate and Percy Pigs this week without having to spend a single penny. The high street retailer is offering 12 days of freebies and offers on their M&S app and online to mark the start of the Christmas season.
December 1 marks the first day of the 12 Days of Sparks digital advent calendar, which sees thousands of customers snap up treats and discounts to get them in the festive spirit. Last year, more than four million ‘doors’ were opened to reveal the rewards.
Every day from December 1 to 12, Sparks customers can bag a daily reward, which could be as high-value as the gin globe and tea light-up tins, or little treats like all butter mini shortbread trees, mince pies and Percy Pig lights.

Customers who open every door will be rewarded with an M&S App exclusive golden reward on December 13. As well as freebies, shoppers may find personalised offers, including 20 per cent off Christmas prosecco, 20 per cent off a chocolate corn wreath, 20 per cent off online flowers and 15 per cent off knitwear.
On one of the 12 days, customers will have the chance to enter a draw for a chance to win a holiday to Canada worth over £12k.
Our team decided to download the app and have a go ourselves, to see what freebies were on offer, and while some of us bagged some free chocolate, one of our colleagues was lucky enough to get a free bottle of gin!
Ten of us downloaded the M&S app to unlock the first of 12 deals. I uncovered an offer for a free net of M&S chocolate footballs, which felt rather fitting for the world cup - but it was also probably the lowest value treat that we discovered.
The most common freebie we found was the M&S gold chocolate coins, which Stephen, Jess, Fionnula, Harriet and Kieran all found behind their digital window.
Meanwhile, Georgina was given a free bag of Percy Pigs, while Heather snapped up a Percy Pig Bauble Plush - although very cute, she admitted she had already purchased one! Laura was also the only person to win a free handcream, which will make a lovely stocking filler.
The biggest win was for Narin, who, at the checkout of her local Marks and Spencer, discovered that she had bagged herself a bottle of the Spiced Sugar Plum snow globe gin - it doesn’t get much better than that.
Customers have 24 hours to unlock each reward on M&S.com, and 48 hours on the M&S app. Rewards are automatically activated by opening the door, and the app will let you know how long the offer is valid for. We found that the first day freebies were available to pick up within 12 days, giving us plenty of time to get to the shops.

If you aren’t as lucky as Narin to bag the free gin, there is one way you can get a bottle for £1.10.
The retailer has cut the price of a pair of snow globe gin bottles from £30 to £20, and a deals website is offering the double bottle deal for just £2.20 - or £1.10 per bottle in an incredible post-Black Friday saving.
