Wayne Rooney shares 'new job' when he returns home from America

Wayne Rooney has shared a "new job" that he will take on when he heads back home to his family in England.

The former Everton FC star is the current manager for Major League Soccer club DC United in the United States. With his job being abroad it means he often has to spend time away from wife Coleen and their four sons - Kai, Klay, Cass and Kit.

Following the end of the MLS season, where Rooney's side finished bottom of the league, the doting dad will be returning from Washington to his family in England. Unlike his first spell in the USA, Coleen and his children have stayed at home in Cheshire after struggling to settle in 2018.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the sportsman said that he becomes a "taxi driver" when spending time with his family. He said: "The kids are off school so I’ll go back to being a taxi driver for a few weeks and then look to try and get some time away on holiday for half term".

Rooney was only appointed manager on July 12, and has since been committed to rebuilding the club. He said: "The mentality and the character of the club needs to improve."

Speaking about the next upcoming season, he added: "It’s a big offseason for us. If we’re going to compete, if we’re going to be successful, there will have to be big changes, and quite a few of them.

"It’s my job, which I will do, to push the owners. If we want to be successful, if we want to develop as a team and a club, we need to make sure we make the right decisions this offseason. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it needs it."
