The documentary maker behind Wayne Rooney's new film has revealed what surprised him most about former footballer.
Rooney is released on Amazon Prime Video today (Friday) and promises to be a tell-all of the scandals the former England footballer has faced in his career on and off the pitch.
Wayne, 36, and wife Coleen, 35, have opened up the doors to their £20m Cheshire home to the cameras, giving a glimpse inside their family life with their four children.
But while giving a rare insight into the Derby County manager's life now, it also takes a look back at his footballing years with Manchester United as well as the infidelity scandals that have rocked his and wife Coleen's 14-year-marriage.
And the documentary maker, Matt Smith, appeared on Lorraine on Friday to discuss his new Amazon Prime Video documentary.
Speaking to Lorraine's stand-in host Ranvir Singh, Matt said: "I've worked with a few footballers now and yeah, they've all got massive lovely houses, but they are just normal human beings behind it all.
"Coleen and Wayne were lovely, they straight away offered me a cup of tea and brought me a biscuit."
He added: "I asked Wayne a question, 'Who does all the cooking?' and Wayne laughed and said, 'It’s mainly Coleen,' because Wayne puts too much white pepper in all his food and ruins all the cooking. So they are just normal."
But there was something else that surprised him.
"It just surprised me how competitive Wayne Rooney is and that’s probably because he’s a sportsman," Matt told Ranvir.
"But with the kids, he wouldn’t let them win, to the point where they’re crying and upset, and he just wants to beat them at everything."
He added: "Coleen was rolling her eyes at him!"
Appearing on Good Morning Britain in a sit-down interview with Ben Shephard, Wayne spoke about his eldest son, Kai, and how he's giving him managerial tips.
"Kai, he tells me which players we should sign, which players I should start," the former Manchester United and England star said.
"He said to me, ‘I love driving home with you because I love listening to the conversations, so when I’m older and I’m a manager, I’m getting a head start."
Wayne and Coleen are also doting patterns to Klay, eight, Kit, six, and Cass, who turns four next week.
And Kai and Klay are already following in their dad's footsteps having signed for Man United's academy.
