Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney believes Leeds United are one of five clubs at greatest risk of relegation this season from the Premier League. Just five points separates Wolves in 13th place on 28 points and basement club Southampton on 23 points.
Crystal Palace's win over Leicester City has seen them pull clear of the relegation scrap, but they remain just four points above Leeds in 12th place. Realistically, and three of nine teams could go down this season, with it one of the tightest relegation battles in Premier League history.
Javi Gracia and Leeds United have shown signs of improvement and pulled away from danger, but their tough run of fixtures meant defeat at Arsenal saw them fall back into the bottom three. A huge clash with Nottingham Forest is a must win game for the Whites who'll leapfrog their opponents with a win at Elland Road.
“It is hard to remember a tighter relegation battle," Rooney told the Times. "Things are so close. The clubs in greatest danger?
"Southampton, Leeds United, Bournemouth, Everton and maybe Nottingham Forest. I reckon three out of those five will go down.”
