Fans are expressing their disappointment online after NHL icon Wayne Gretzky was seen attending President-elect Donald Trump's victory party, celebrating his triumph over Vice President Kamala Harris following Tuesday's presidential election.

Gretzky was seen at the party, held at the Mar-a-Lago, alongside his entire family in a photo posted to his daughter's Instagram story. The photo also includes his wife Janet, his son Trevor, his daughter Paulina and Paulina's husband, professional golf star Dustin Johnson.

Gretzky's wife, Janet Gretzky, has also been previously vocal about her support for the president-elect. Following Trump's victory on Wednesday, she took to Instagram to post a video slideshow congratulating him, in which she can be seen donning the classic, red MAGA hat.

"Congratulations Mr. President Donald J Trump. You did it, you deserved it, you earned every bit of it. The world is a better place to have you as our leader. Proud to be an American. Thank you for being such a great friend. May God keep watching over you. Love our family to yours!" reads her caption.

Some social media users have taken to online platforms to express their disappointment with Gretzky over his political affiliations.

"Wayne Gretzky being a Trump supporter didn't shock me but I'm still disappointed," wrote one user.

"Wayne Gretzky is a f***ing loser and anyone acting precious about his record is a bootlicking dork. I hope [Alexander] Ovechkin runs his number into the ground. Mario forever," said another user.

"It's hilarious every time someone new realizes Wayne Gretzky is a piece of s***," wrote a third.

Gretzky, a dual citizen of Canada and the United States, has yet to address his own attendance at the president-elect's victory party.
