Developer Airship Syndicate revealed the newest hero for Wayfinder, Lora, ahead of the role-playing game's official 1.0 release.
The reworked title is officially scheduled to come out of early access on Oct. 21, 2024. Airship Syndicate described the game's 8th hero as the vessel of a primal spirit. She is a powerful character who can scare even her allies on the battlefield.
New Wayfinder Hero
Lora is said to be an orphan who has very little memory of things that happened in her past but is determined to master her power. The new hero was also revealed to be voiced by Daisy Lightfoot from the TV series Grey's Anatomy.
The reveal of the game's 8th hero comes after the developer also unveiled a new area called the Crucible. The studio also went into detail about the upcoming content and new features with Wayfinder's 1.0 release, according to MassivelyOP.
Wayfinder, after its rework, will be available on consoles as well as PC but not on the Nintendo Switch with a price tag of $24.99. Initially, Airship Syndicate created the game as a free-to-play online action RPG last year.
However, the studio split with publisher Digital Extremes and it decided to rework the game to become a single-player and co-op action RPG. The world of Wayfinder is known as Evenor, which is being consumed by a force that is known as the Gloom.
Players will have a series of Wayfinder heroes to choose from to fight against the Gloom. Each of these characters has their own story, playstyle, and abilities. You will also be able to explore Zones that are dungeon-like areas consumed by the Gloom, RPGamer said.
Upcoming 1.0 Release
Wayfinder's full release will come with a full story campaign that players can experience. It will feature randomized dungeons and three open-world areas. The Crucible is one of these and there will also be quests, mini-bosses, and other hidden features.
Talking more about the Crucible, the developers said that it is a lush but dangerous area. The final battle in Wayfinder will begin in this region as the Eldren have occupied the shattered area. It is a city-sized machine that was built by The Architects and reclaimed by nature but lost to time.
The Crucible is made up of a variety of vertical platforms and multiple areas that players can explore.
Airship Syndicate also developed a brand new traversal tool specifically for this new region, the Hookshot. It lets you easily traverse and avoid dangerous situations, according to the PlayStation Blog.
