Why Most Wayanad Trips Miss the Point
Edakkal is genuinely worth the climb. The Neolithic carvings are real, the views from the top are wide, and the history sitting in that rock shelter is older than most of what India calls ancient. But the cave is also where roughly ninety percent of Wayanad's visitors stop, turn around, and go back to their resort pool. The district above the ghats is three times larger than that single stop suggests, and the parts that reward slow travel are the parts no itinerary bothers to name.
