Competition at the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach has been called off for the day due to small, inconsistent waves at the Hawaiian surf break.
The window for the event opened on Monday (local time), but organisers opted for a lay-day as they await the arrival of bigger swell at the deep water reef on Oahu's North Shore.
The World Surf League's season-opening event, the Pipe Pro, was only completed in Hawaii on Saturday, with American Caitlin Simmers and local surfer Barron Mamiya triumphant.
Mamiya famously won the Sunset Pro in 2022 as a wildcard.
"It's day one at the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach, and we're calling the event off for the day," said Travis Logie, the WSL's senior manager of tours and competition.
"There's really small and inconsistent surf today.
"The next couple of days it should bump up a little bit, and then we have an extra, extra large, massive swell coming in on Thursday and Friday, but maybe with some bad winds, but we'll keep an eye on it."
Australians in action include Molly Picklum, who made the final of the Pipe Pro, also on Oahu.
The 21-year-old won the Sunset Pro in 2023, while Filipe Toledo, who has stepped away from the tour for the year, won the men's event.
