Waterworld evacuated and two in hospital as emergency services descend

A waterpark in Staffordshire has been evacuated after visitors reported 'eye and throat irritation and nausea'. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics are in attendance at Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent after people reported feeling unwell earlier this afternoon.

Two people have reportedly been taken to hospital, according to Stoke-on-Trent Live. Eye witnesses reported seeing up to seven police cars, eight ambulances and three fire brigades at the scene, along with the air ambulance, which landed nearby.

In a statement, the ambulance service said: "We’re currently in attendance at an incident along with police and fire colleagues at Waterworld, Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent following a call at 1.55pm. A number of ambulances and specialist resources are on scene assessing a number of people who are reported to be feeling unwell . The public are asked to avoid the area at this time to allow 999 staff to deal with the incident."
