Waterford have responded with a brief statement to the news that owner Andy Pilley has been jailed for 13 years.
Pilley, who was found guilty last month of fraud and money laundering, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old, who also owned Fleetwood Town, had been in custody since the guilty verdict.
In a statement, the League of Ireland side said: “Waterford Football Club acknowledges the sentencing in the court case involving owner Andy Pilley.
“The club would like to reiterate (that) convictions are against individuals and not Waterford FC, or any of the businesses associated with them, and will continue to operate as normal.
“The club will make no further comment at this time.”
