KOLKATA: Dhrubajyoti Chaudhuri, an octogenarian and a resident of Rashbehari Avenue, is heaving a sigh of relief. Chaudhuri's household was going through an acute water crisis and would need to buy packaged drinking water for the past few months.
Equally hit was Pratip Mukhopadhyay’s household. Mukhopadhyay, a resident of Hindustan Park, was also suffering as he was spending a lot arranging for water from alternative sources.
However, their grievances have been redressed as the duo as well as thousands of others staying in vast stretches of Rashbehari Avenue, Hindustan Park, Jatin Bagchi Road and Triangular Park are now getting adequate water after Kolkata Municipal Corporation replaced a 45-year-old damaged underground pipeline that was leaking in several places resulting in water crisis in these areas.
