Water storage in Maharashtra’s dams down to 36%

MUMBAI: With temperatures soaring and the monsoon yet to arrive, the water storage in Maharashtra’s dams has been reduced to 36.7% of capacity, which is almost on par with last year. By now, 401 tankers are ferrying water to Maharashtra’s villages.

This is much higher than the 319 tankers at the same time last year. These were the figures on May 25, discussed at a review in the state cabinet.

In the dam storages, Western Maharashtra has the lowest water reserves with dams at only 29% of capacity.

The water levels in Nagpur and North Maharashtra’s dams are at 35% of capacity.

In Marathwada, the dam levels are at 45% of capacity.
