As Hurricane Milton approaches the Tampa Bay area, officials are taking precautionary measures to protect the utility infrastructure and ensure the safety of residents. In Manatee County, the Manatee County Utilities Department has announced the shut-off of potable water service and sanitary sewer service to the island cities of Anna Maria Island, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, and the Town of Longboat Key.

This decision, made in coordination with the island cities, aims to safeguard the utility infrastructure and prevent damage to sewer lift stations. Trash pickup in Manatee County has also been suspended through Friday to prioritize safety during the storm.

In Sarasota County, residents in Venice are facing water service interruptions starting Tuesday evening. The city officials have confirmed that water service, including water for fire protection, will remain off throughout the storm and until any necessary repairs are completed. Wastewater service and power are also expected to be unavailable during this period.

Residents in Venice are advised that the water outage could last several days. Once the service is restored, a boil water advisory will be in effect until an official notification declares the water safe for consumption.

Additionally, in Sarasota County, potable water and lift stations for wastewater services have been turned off for residents on Siesta Key and Casey Key. This precautionary measure is aimed at protecting the community's infrastructure from potential storm surge and high winds.

As Hurricane Milton approaches, these proactive steps are being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the Tampa Bay area. Stay informed and follow official guidance to stay safe during this challenging time.
