The Carolina Panthers kicked off the 2023 NFL draft with the most obvious pick of the night as they selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
The Houston Texans had ben linked to Young even going back to the regular season. However, Houston failed to secure the No. 1 overall pick, the Chicago Bears traded the top selection to the Panthers, and Carolina fell in love with the former 2021 Heisman Trophy winner the same as the Texans.
With Young off the board, the Texans may be going to a best player available approach, which wouldn’t necessarily mean they take a quarterback. Houston could go anywhere from Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, Alabama defensive end Will Anderson, or Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson.
