The Houston Texans are counting on Nico Collins to take another step.
The former 2021 third-round receiver from Michigan is an effective complement to veteran wideout Brandin Cooks. At 6-4, 215 pounds, Collins represents a big target that can move the chains, which is what second-year quarterback Davis Mills needs as he makes his case for the Texans to invest in him long-term as their starter.
Collins caught a difficult catch against defensive back Isaac Yiadom during team portion of mandatory minicamp Wednesday at Houston Methodist Training Center.
Mills complimented Collins on June 14 after minicamp practice.
“Obviously his talent is off the charts,” said Mills. “We’ve just got to find ways to get him the ball.”
