There’s a lot of familiarity between the Raiders and Patriots. But much of that familiarity was there when the two teams met last season. The main difference is Jakobi Meyers was on the opposite sideline last year.
For that reason, facing his former team as a member of the Raiders now was a big story coming in. It took just a couple minutes into the second quarter before he made his presence felt.
With the Raiders up 3-0 early in the second quarter, they moved into the red zone for the third time. The first time the Patriots stopped them, forcing a field goal. The second time, ended with a big hit on Davante Adams, resulting in an interception.
The third time was the charm and it was none other than Jakobi Meyers who Jimmy Garoppolo found in the end zone for the touchdown.

An interesting bit of back story here is it was a Meyers fumble for the Patriots last season that was recovered by Chandler Jones for a TD that gave the Raiders the win last season. Now his TD catch puts the Raiders up 10-0 early on while the Patriots struggle to get anything going on offense.
