The Ohio State basketball squad traveled to West Lafayette to take on Purdue in a key Big Ten matchup that will most likely go a long way to determining the top of the conference and seeding for the postseason. The Buckeyes got down big early in the second half but were able to pull up their bootstraps and find a way to tie it with under 30 seconds to go.
In the end, it wasn’t meant to be, as Boilermaker guard Jaden Ivey hit a game-winning 3-pointer to send the home fans home happy and OSU home asking what could have been in an 81-78 final.
Head coach Matt Painter met with the media after the game to discuss what he saw and had plenty to say about his team, but also showed some respect for Ohio State.
In case you missed any of his comments, we’ve got them in their entirety thanks to the PurdueSports YouTube channel. Click on the below and listen to Painter discuss the last play of the game, how resilient Ohio State was, the matchup nightmare that E.J. Liddell is, and more.
Ohio State will next take on Iowa at home this Thursday.
