Tutu Atwell has become an integral part of the Rams offense this year, catching 13 passes for 196 yards in two games so far. After struggling in his first two seasons as a pro, it’s great to see him taking big steps toward contributing consistently as an all-around receiver, not just a deep threat.
On Sunday against the 49ers, Atwell had seven catches for 77 yards on nine targets. He was mic’d up for the game and showed a little bit of his personality, as well as his toughness despite being a smaller receiver.
Buy Rams TicketsWide receivers coach Eric Yarber gave him a fiery pep talk on the sideline, too.
“You’re playing big, little man! You’re playing big! Strong, aggressive hands! Strong, aggressive hands!” Yarber yelled.
Atwell is playing with a ton of confidence right now and as Yarber said, he’s showing strong hands at the catch point, too. All that is helping him become a key contributor on offense.
