Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons was mic’d up for the team’s Week 1 loss to the New York Giants.
While the Titans dropped the contest, Simmons had a great start to the season for himself. The Mississippi State product tallied a pair of sacks, as well as a forced fumble that was recovered by outside linebacker Bud Dupree.
Simmons and Co. were absolutely dominant in the first half of the loss to Big Blue, notching four sacks and seven QB hits en route to Tennessee taking a 13-0 lead into halftime.
But the pass-rush wasn’t as effective in the second half, and Tennessee failed to show much life on either side of the ball, allowing the Giants to climb back into the game and win, 21-20.
According to Pro Football Focus, Simmons was the third-highest graded defender (93.0) and notched the fifth-best pass-rush win rate (26.9 percent) in Week 1.
Simmons continues to make the case he deserves a massive, long-term extension, and he’s only getting more expensive the longer the Titans wait.
