Watch the moment Kevin Sinfield carries Rob Burrow over the finishing line to complete Leeds Marathon

Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow reduced people to tears after completing the inaugural Leeds Marathon. The pair were cheered on by thousands of well-wishers as they made their way around the track, starting and finishing at Headingley Stadium.

Sinfield had pushed Burrow throughout the marathon, adding to his list of incredible achievements in his attempts to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease. However, with the finishing line in his sights, Sinfield stopped.

After doing so, Sinfield, who was captain of the legendary Rhinos 'Golden Generation' of which Burrow played a major part, lifted his friend out of his seat and carried him over the finishing line, prompting huge cheers from those in attendance at Headingley.

On a day featuring multiple powerful moments, the sight of the pair completing the marathon together evoked strong emotions in the stands and across social media.

Heather Marsden tweeted: "This man runs a marathon for his friend. He runs it with that friend. He carries that friend over the finish line. Sir Kev shows the world what a good man looks like and what a true friend really is. What a special moment." Sammi added: "We need more people like Kevin Sinfield in this world."

Before the marathon started, Sinfield revealed over £3 million had been raised for various charities through the marathon, with over £1 million of that going to Motor Neurone Disease Association. Sinfield has raised over £8 million through his various efforts while Burrow has brought worldwide awareness through his bravery.

A number of ex-Leeds players, such as Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Jamie Peacock and Barrie McDermott, also took part, as well as current head coach Rohan Smith. The current Rhinos squad were handing out medals to participants after completing the marathon.
