There have been major concerns about the Los Angeles Rams’ defense this season but Chris Shula’s unit is the biggest reason for the team’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Without a dominant performance from the Rams’ defense, Los Angeles might very well be 1-5 right now instead of 2-4.
The Rams held the Raiders to 317 total yards, but more importantly, they forced four takeaways, three of which led directly to touchdowns. The fourth was an interception by Jaylen McCollough with 1:28 left to play, sealing the win for the Rams at SoFi Stadium.
The defense’s performance wasn’t lost on Sean McVay, who praised that unit up and down during his postgame press conference. He gave them plenty of credit in the locker room afterwards, too, saying everyone on defense deserves a game ball.
Specifically, he gave Jaylen McCollough, Kam Curl, Cobie Durant and Chris Shula game balls for their effort on Sunday.
“I can’t (expletive) say enough about our (expletive) defense,” he said, eliciting a big applause from the locker room. “As a whole, defensively, everybody’s getting a (expletive) game ball. It’s always about the (expletive) team, but where’s Chris Shula at?”
Shula then broke the locker room down and had his guys fired up after a big win, sending them home with another game coming up quickly on Thursday night.
