It has not been long since the Maine Celtics signed former Utah Jazz wing Denzel Valentine to their roster as a player, but the Michigan State product is already making his mark with the Celtics’ G League developmental affiliate.
In a recent contest played against the Fort Wayne (Indiana) Mad Ants — the developmental affiliate for the Indiana Pacers, Valentine put up 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting 6-of-14 from the field, a sizzling 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line in 28 minutes of playing time for Maine off of the bench.
While he could be picked up by any team in the league, it’s worth keeping an eye on the former No. 14 pick as a potential low-cost, end-of-bench option for the Celtics should the team need cheap help after making trade deadline moves to consolidate talent.
