Amidst numerous reports of abundant outside interest, Brian Burns showed why other teams are calling up the Carolina Panthers for him. Oh, and he also accomplished a longstanding goal of his in the process.
With just under five minutes remaining in the first half of Sunday’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 24-year-old defensive end finally got to quarterback Tom Brady for the first time in his NFL career. Burns picked up the sack, his fifth of the campaign, on a second-and-10—pushing Brady and his bunch back for a 14-yard loss.
Last summer, Burns appeared on the Behind The Mask Podcast of the Bleav Podcast Network—where he told hosts Takeo Spikes and Tutan Reyes he’d “go crazy” when he finally takes down the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
“And that was my goal coming into that year, knowing that he was gonna be in Tampa Bay. I was gonna play him twice a year, I got double the chance to get him,” he said with a sigh. “Whatever. I got this year.”
Well, he didn’t get him in 2021, but he certainly did today . . .
