This is the moment thousands marked the end of the holy month of Ramadan and took part in Eid prayers. An estimated 20,000 took to Platt Fields park in Fallowfield for the 'Eid in the Park' event.
The weather stayed dry for long enough for the Muslim community from Manchester and beyond to largest take part in the largest outdoor Eid prayer in the country this year. It is believed Eid al Fitr 2023 was their biggest yet at the Fallowfield park with prayers going ahead at 9.45am.
The prayers marked the end of Ramadan - 30 days where Muslims have been fasting, praying and reflecting. There were joyous scenes throughout the morning as friends, families young and old as well as neighbours gathered to pray, eat and celebrate.

Mosques across the city also hosted special Eid prayers with other larger outside events, similar to that of Platt Fields, also organised. Eid is one of two major holidays celebrated by Muslims all over the globe, because of this it holds a lot of importance for observers.
Events will continue to be held across the city over the weekend to accommodate some Muslims who may choose to celebrate Eid on Saturday instead of today. This means as many Muslims as possible will be able to spend the weekend visiting friends and family in order to wish them an Eid Mubarak and celebrate together.
