Watch moment ex-Celtic star Jota is pelted with toilet roll by Al-Ittihad fans

This is the moment former Celtic winger Jota had toilet roll hurled at him by Al-Ittihad fans.

The ex-Celtic star had loo roll playfully lobbed in his direction by his own fans ahead of the victory over Al-Riyadh last night.

Jota's future at Al-Ittihad has come under increased scrutiny in the past week with speculation he is set to leave the club just one month on from his £25million transfer.

However, it appears Jota is still a hit with the Al-Ittihad fan base as they chanted his name as loo roll was thrown towards the smiling winger.

Walking alongside a member of club staff, Jota appeared to enjoy the bizarre moment as he even attempted to catch some of toilet roll lobbed from the stands.

Jota was named on the bench for the Saudi Pro League clash but did come on in the 67th minute.

He replaced Romarinho with the scoreline already 3-0 in Al-Ittihad's favour. Karim Benzema had netted the opener before a double from Abderrazak Hamdallah.

And Saleh Al-Amri ended the contest with a 93rd-minute fourth for Ittihad.

It comes as Jota has reportedly been handed a major update on his Al-Ittihad future amid reports that he could be in store for a shock exit.

The former Celtic winger moved to the Saudi giants this summer for a £25million fee, but the transfer has not gone to plan.

It is claimed that Al-Ittihad are keen to shift Jota out the door to free up space for more incomings, with the club heavily linked to Liverpool superstar Mo Salah.

Saudi Pro League rules state that teams can only have eight foreign players in their squad, meaning Jota could be on his way out on loan.

The Portuguese star has been linked with a shock move to Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq and also an emotional reunion with Celtic, but it remains to be seen where he will end up.

Jota's hopes of staying at the club were handed a boost tonight though as he was named on the bench with Al-Ittihad in action against Al-Riyadh.
