A young girl was attacked Friday morning on the porch of her home in Ashford, Ct., in a harrowing scene captured by a surveillance camera.
The accompanying footage, tweeted by WFSB Channel 3, shows the raccoon biting the girl’s left leg and the girl’s mother rushing out to rescue her daughter.
In the footage, the unidentified mother grabs the raccoon by the scruff of its neck and frees her daughter with her other hand before flinging the raccoon onto the lawn.

WFSB reported that police and animal control responded to the incident, which occurred at 7:45 a.m.
The mother and daughter visited a doctor for checkups.
The raccoon, after a hard landing, hobbled into the woods. It was not immediately known if the animal was rabid.
