In Michigan State football’s win over Maryland on Saturday, it was pretty obvious that one of the big winners on the day were the wide receivers and wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins.
A rare assistant coach who was able to stick around through two separate head coaches now, Courtney Hawkins is the only coach on the team who gets to coach players he recruited himself. Coach Hawkins seemed very happy being able to see the fruits of his labor, which came from many different players, but especially from the fantastic play of Big Ten Freshman of the Week Nick Marsh.
The best part of this interview is when Hawkins talks about how he’s recruiting players who will be able to knock him out of the top-10 ranking of most yards in one game by a wide receiver in MSU history, where he is still ranked No. 7.
