Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has had a special career, but his postseason performance in 2019 in particular stands out.
Against the Texans in the divisional round, Mahomes helped Kansas City turn a 24–0 deficit into a 51–31 win. Against the Titans in the AFC championship, a 17–7 Chiefs hole became a 35–24 win.
Aside from breaking Tennesseeans’ hearts, that AFC championship win led to a loss for one of sports gambling’s most well-known high rollers. Houston-area mattress magnate Jim McIngvale—better known as “Mattress Mack”—reportedly took a $1 million bath betting on the Titans, a week after betting $1 million on his hometown Texans.
At the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, McIngvale took the opportunity to give Mahomes a good-natured ribbing.
"You cost me millions betting against you," McIngvale told Mahomes as they shook hands in Louisville.
Mahomes laughed. “I appreciate it. Sorry about that one. You gotta be with me next time,” he responded.

The lesson: no matter your income level, pick against Mahomes and Kansas City at your own risk.
