Captive Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro wished DEA officers a "Happy New Year" and bid them "good night" as he was led to a high security prison in New York last night.

Maduro, 63 and his wife Cilia Flores, were captured by US special forces in the early hours of Saturday after airstrikes on the Venezuelan leader's "highly guarded fortress" in the capital Caracas.
