Watch live as Pope Francis celebrates Mass with 50,000 people in Singapore at the National Stadium on Thursday, 12 September.

The pontiff, 87, is closing out his Asia-Pacific tour; he has been to Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste.

The pontiff will celebrate Mass with 50,000 people at the National Stadium on Thursday evening, packing the venue as his 12-day Asia-Pacific tour draws to a close.

His 11-day trip is the longest he has been on since becoming head of the Catholic Church in 2013.

Singapore was originally part of his 2020 travel plans to the region, but it was derailed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Around 10 per cent of Singapore's population identify as Catholic.

“Singapore and the Holy See share a common interest in promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding. Pope Francis’ state visit is also the first papal visit to Singapore in almost 40 years,” Singapore’s Foreign Ministry said.
