Catherine Colonna told the United Nations General Assembly that France would pledge €1.6bn to the Green Climate Fund for the years 2024 to 2027. The fund, created in 2010, has become one of the world's most important solidarity mechanisms when it comes to the fight against climate change.
The French foreign minister also said her country believed in "African solutions for African crises", and said France was a "compassionate power".
