The video clip of Lionel Messi taunting Netherlands' player, possibly Wout Weghorst, has gone so viral that it has found place on mugs and t-shirts in Argentina, who beat the Dutch on penalties and will face Croatia in the first semifinal of the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday.
While being interviewed after Argentina's high-octane quarterfinal with the Netherlands on Friday, Messi kept looking the other way and then lashed out at the player: "What are you looking at fool? Get lost!" Messi said in Spanish.
The Dutch drew level at 2-2 with two late goals from Weghorst who came on as a substitute in the last-eight clash. Argentina eventually won 4-3 on penalties after extra-time failed to break the deadlock.
It was a fiery game full of emotional outbursts, which led to the referee flashing yellow cards on 18 occasions -- a World Cup record.
In his comments after the game, Messi expressed his anger at the referee for giving Netherlands a free-kick.
Messi's, taunt, however became a source of business in Argentina, with the phrase turned into a slogan painted on mugs, t-shirts and caps.
