Watch: Katie Taylor hilariously roasts Jake Paul when asked when she first heard of YouTuber

Katie Taylor didn't pull any punches in her media scrum today as she hit Jake Paul with a pretty good dig out of nowhere.

The YouTuber has become a significant player in boxing not only from his own exhibition bouts versus other celebrities and veteran UFC stars but also through the foundation of his MVP Promotions company - which includes Serrano amongst its roster.

It's for that reason that Taylor was quizzed about when she first heard of the brash 25-year-old.

She proceeded to beautifully mock his boxing credentials with a well-timed use of air quotes for comedic effect.

"I guess I first became aware of Jake Paul when he had his first fight...'fight'...a couple of years ago! That's my idea of trash talking, that's it over!

"That's when I became aware of Jake Paul and then he started working with Amanda and here we are. I know he's been working with Amanda for the last couple of fights now and obviously myself and Amanda were in talks for a couple of years now.

"I'm glad that he's involved right now to help get this fight over the line, originally I was thinking 'I hope I'm not on the undercard of a Jake Paul fight'! That would be an awful shame.

"I'd be going 'I can't believe I'm fighting Amanda Serrano on a Jake undercard', but obviously now we're here headlining. Jake's been an absolute gentleman over these last few months, I can't say anything bad about him."

It clearly irks the Bray woman that people with no boxing pedigree like Jake - and to a lesser degree his brother Logan - have inserted themselves into the sport and managed to make themselves two of the biggest draws whether you like them or not.

Back in 2019 when Logan first ventured into the ring against fellow YouTuber KSI, Taylor didn't mince her words on what she made of the bizarre phenomenon.

She said: “I’m not really too sure to think of the Logan fight. Sometimes I think it makes a mockery of the sport in that these two YouTubers are headlining a big show.

“It’s all about business, I understand that. I’m just interested in the purity of the sport, I love fighters going toe-to-toe together.

"This is our lives, it’s something we’ve been working towards since we were 10 or 11 years of age. We’ve had amateur competitions, we’ve stood in the dressing room not knowing who we were going to fight in these competitions.

“We’ve put our bodies on the line week in, week out for years and years now. I love the fight game, I love the purity of the sport. There’s something very noble about going into the trenches against your opponent.

“I just love that side of the sport, I don’t like the other side of it.”

In fairness to Jake Paul though, he has already developed a reputation for maximising his fighters' purses and has consistently called out the likes of UFC chief Dana White for underpaying his fighters compared to boxing.

And he certainly knows how to attract eyeballs to any bout he is involved with. The latest example of this was him and Eddie Hearn shaking hands on a $1million bet on tomorrow's main event at Madison Square Garden.
