White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave her role at the end of the month, Donald Trump said on Wednesday (12 August) leaving the president without one of his most trusted advisers ahead of November's midterm elections.
Leavitt, 28, said in a social media post that she aimed to spend more time with her young children. She gave birth to her second child in May and recently returned from maternity leave.
Leavitt joined Trump's 2024 presidential campaign and served as transition spokeswoman before being chosen as White House press secretary. She became the youngest person to hold the position.
During her tenure, Leavitt became known for her sharp, combative style at White House press briefings and media appearances.
