Jacksonville Jaguars outside linebacker Josh Allen is off to the best start of his career with six sacks through the first four games of 2023.
After a three-sack performance against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4, the fifth-year linebacker was greeted in a raucous locker room with a water bottle shower from a couple teammates. Allen collected himself and gave a quick speech that included the veteran pass rusher getting a little choked up.

“Hey that’s how y’all respond, man,” Allen told his teammates. “From the first play to the last play, that’s how you f****** respond. It started on Monday. And that s*** went to Tuesday, that s*** went to Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. That’s how y’all lock the f*** in, man.
“I love everyone of y’all, man. I’m gonna get emotional.”
Allen, 26, is in the fifth-year option of his rookie contract and is due to become a free agent in the offseason. The 2019 first-round pick finished his rookie season with 10.5 sacks and a Pro Bowl nod, but has failed to reach eight sacks in any season since.
Through the first four weeks of the season, Allen is currently tied with the Los Angeles Chargers’ Khalil Mack and Pittsburgh Steelers’ T.J. Watt for the league lead in sacks.
